Ceramics is like a game for me, I like to explore all its possibilities known and unknown, and to build tri dimensional forms compatible with my way of thinking and with my freedom of expression.
My ceramic creation was born in parallel with discovering a personal technique of the form building. I use primarily the slip casting in negative forms which, in the end, has produced a variety of constructive forms with multiple layers or intersections of layers, with various structures resulted from the mold pressing. I also build forms with the aim of making them more expressive and even <monumental> despite their smaller dimensions. In general my raw materials are the faience and porcelain but I have recently succeeded to get a stoneware casting slip allowing me to obtain quite thin walls that have maintained their shape after drying. I give special attention to structures and to the form-color relationship. I like to use most of the times vibrant color glazes as well as lusters and angobes, allowing me to soften the clean cut shapes. In general I like to group together 2-3 pieces in a <family of forms> apparently related but not similar, with comparable sizes. My works are meant for indoor spaces which I intend to make them more dynamic. I also tend to assemble my works in short cycles, function of the techniques being dicovered and used in line with my overall artistic concept. |
