Galateea Contemporary Art invites you, on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 7:00 pm, to attent the varnishing of the exhibition “Tête-à-tête” by Dana Fabini & Gavril Zmicală.
Curators: Lucia Lobonț & Bianca Boeroiu
“Tête-á-tête” – Dana Fabini & Gavril Zmicală thematizes the relationship artist–creation by ideatic, technical and stylistic juxtaposition. Gavril Zmicală is bound to his passion for ceramics, while Dana Fabini has gradually abandoned the classic expression matters, favoring her interest for multimedia concepts and techniques.
DANA FABINI:
„There is the highly popular idea among visual artists that an image does not need words as it speaks for itself and actually, most artists produce images that speak for themselves. Fewer artists try the path in the opposite direction, the one in which words express images. I am not referring to either metaphors and comparisons or to narratives and scenarios, as they are working techniques or methods. I am referring to the semantic, morphologic and syntactic capacity of words to function as a shape or figure against a background, in the same way as a painting or any other purely visual image. More exactly, I am referring to a visual linguistics.“
GAVRIL ZMICALĂ:
“In the field of art, between the epidermis of clay and the intelligence of shape there is a secret interval, a ʻdangerousʼ zone I often cross in my works, in fact, each of them pointing out the crucial, ʻcrisis-likeʼ nodal points of the crossing. They put into shape the essential questions I am confronted with: What happens at the limit between a being and the world, between a shape and its meaning? What must and what can a being do, with body and soul, in order to pass beyond his/her own boundaries of time and space, in order to reach fulfilment on the way to the self within the confusing multitude of obstacles? And moreover, how can the plastic image coherently articulate all these question marks?
The exhibition can be visited during the period July 17–August 16, 2018.
Free entrance
