“… Ioana Stepanov is one of the artists for whom the exercise practised upon ceramic material has never been an exacerbation of the figurative features. Plain volumes and a chromatics which does not colour, but gradates, valorize two elements the artist has exploited for years: first, the geometry and shape – in one word, the architecture –, and second, moulding, that plasticity the material contains before the firing process. […] After some decades of exercising, Ioana Stepanov succeeded to imprint the ceramic material a personal expression, to create a world of her own, through which she aspires to pass beyond the impact with surface.
