In the exhibition entitled “Persona”, different stylistic trajectories define a portrait palimpsest. In a disarming natural approach, the ceramists and sculptors render their egos, leaving the beholder get familiar with the transparency or, on the contrary, with the opacity of their egos.
A portrait assault with subjective typologies, Kabuki-like portraits and expression studies can be seen in the period February 13 – March 13 at the Galateea Gallery. Adela Bonaţ invests her portraits with an anachronical hieratism (palimpsest portraits). Cristina Bolborea renders images and expressions on incised and painted ceramic plates. Arina Ailincăi draws her inspiration from the Japanese Kabuki theatre. Silvia Radu outlines an Etruscan portrait. Gavril Zmicală shows us his unique purified style. Nicolae Moldovan displays a minimalist shape. Monika Pădureţ draws lapidary ludic shapes. Daniela Făiniş shows expressionist portraits, Liana Axinte chooses an expressive modelling, while Ion Stendl opts out for figurative expressivity. Simona Antoniu prefers the pop-art portrait with conceptual sap, and Raluca Glodean moulds an antique-like profile. Irinel Moldoveanu displays a portrait with cubist formal insertions, and Gloria Grati exhibits an eclectic-shaped portrait. Lucia Lobonţ shows an installation of Japanese portraits reminding both ukiyo-e art movement and the everyday ephemeral pulsation. Text: Raluca Băloiu |
