CLAY, FIRE, SMOKE
July 12 - 30, 2012
O expozitie a Grupului CerArt Targu Mures
Curator: Mana Bucur |
“… From time to time, this fervour breaks out in the glow of an exhibition, the way it happens now, engaging and gathering the decorative-art supporters from Târgu Mureş (Romania). Out of this incandescence dominating the spirit of creation, the objects, unique as far as texture, chromatics, spatiality and plasticity are concerned, take shape. This fire does not scorch, it simply entertains artists’ imaginative verve, and they, assuming Creator’s condition, did mould the clays.
The vitreous enamel happily completes the works, and sculptors’ presence achieves the translation between the two genres, showing that ceramic art’s aspiration to sculpture is not a mere utopia…” Cora Fodor, art historian CerArt organizes yearly this homonymous salon in the FAU’s galleries of the Târgu Mureş city. This is the 5th edition, and our efforts aim to itinerate ceramic artists’ displays in other cultural centers of Romania. The group is made of Birtalan Vidra Éva, Bucur Mana, Csiki Vidra Orsolya, Csorvási Szabó Laszló Attila, Moldovan George, Moldovan Mária, Mureşan Gheorghe, Olteanu David, Olteanu Mariana and Pădureţ Monika. Guests: Crăciun Gheorghe, Crăciun Judit (Baia Mare) and Forro Agnes (Cluj). |
“What is CerArt? We are a small group of fire-art promoters, i.e. of ceramists and enamel/metal artists from Târgu Mureş, joined by a couple of sculptors. CerArt’s birthday co-occurred with the Ceramic Symposium the Bolyai Foundation organized in August 2007 in the Mediaeval Citadel of Târgu Mureş. The nucleus of the group coagulated after we worked together in a common studio, where we could share our experiences, ideas and technological solutions. The Raku actions that followed required teamwork, and our group of artists, fellows and friends, has thus strengthened.
