POT, pots, n. – longish earthenware vessel, compressed in the middle, holding mostly sour milk or used to cook dishes; the contents of this vessel. Beside the obvious aesthetic component, the theme highlights the cultural and anthropologic significance of the bowl. Derived from the meal ritual – a compulsory act any human being observes –, the significance of this type of vessel is to bring together a family, a community. The bowl is not only a decorative object; it is also a necessity, an object man uses permanently. The challenge consists in the idea that any current object has to be reinterpreted and rediscovered. We are accustomed to use the bowl, to wash it, to fill it up, to break it. Now we want to show and admire the bowl independently, that is, isolated from its urban context. The present exhibition stands for a reunion celebrating the “Pot”, which is displayed in order to be just looked at and granted its well-deserved importance.
