Galateea Contemporary Art invites you, on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 7 p.m., to varnish the exhibition MONOLOGUE, a solo show by Gheorghe Crăciun, a ceramic artist from Baia Mare.
Curators: Mónika Pădureț and Cosmin Năsui
“The unique universe the fine artist Gheorghe Crăciun imagined, by assuming an unlimited freedom of expression, witnesses a remarkable personality ready to valorize some still unexplored paths of artistic creation.
Conceived out of figurative elements, his compositions apparently belong to the props of a grotesque unreality, yet symbolizing the dichotomy between the possible and the impossible. Approached in a surrealistic manner, the plastic visions also disclose the contemporary dystopia revealed through creator's remote past temporality.
Peopled with zoomorphic beings, his Bestiary is fed out of the nowadays shortcomings, out of the abnormalities characterizing our society and political milieu. In order to understand his works, one should forray mediaeval art or the recent past of the post-modern artefacts, though the reverberations into the present are easy to see. From this perspective, Bestiary's allegorical message is as eloquent as possible. Even if, symbolically speaking, the flow of time resembles the perpetual clock tick, it remains allcomprising, inescapable and inexorable.”
