MEMORIES FROM THE OLD TOWN
"… I can say that my most interesting and prolific period started immediately after I settled my creation studio in The Old Centre, in 13 Şelari Street. The space, richly charged with history and culture, surrounded by galleries and churches, has slowly, yet positively turned into a centre of consumerism and nocturnal entertainment. I have spent there twenty very special years, I have met exceptional people and participated in exquisite events which have deeply influenced my life. I have encountered there artists belonging to different generations, from Marin Gherasim to Petru Lucaci, from Napoleon Zamfir to Ion Atanasiu, Dan Minea, Marcel Bunea or Marius Barb. Due to their oeuvres, my studio became a fruitful workshop, a place favourable to the circulation of ideas and to frequent common exhibitional activities. This exhibition coincides with my departure from this creative space. I have just wanted to mark the transition by organizing a solo exhibition, by pointing out anew the importance these years have had for me. Herewith the title of the exhibition – “Souvenirs from the Old Centre”. During these years I experimented a lot, I used to draw, I achieved works from different materials differently treated. But during this whole period, ceramic art still had an important place in my creation. The various approaches of the plastic experiments have but completed my ceramic techniques, they were an important and welcome addition to my creation".
