CERAMICS NOW
international ceramic exhibition
April 19 - May 7, 2012
“Ceramics Now” is an itinerant international exhibition displaying the works achieved by the artists quoted in the review Ceramics Now. Aiming to increase the visibility of contemporary ceramic art in Romania, the exhibition gathers artists from different countries and communities, facilitating their contact with the public. The exhibition and the review act as a communication platform among artists, galleries, museums, collectors and art lovers.
Founded in 2011 and edited in English, the quarterly Ceramics Now, the first review of this genre in Romania, celebrates ceramic art through interviews or articles and introduces both consecrated and emergent artists. The review is distributed in 18 countries via a network of bookshops, galleries and art institutions. The present exhibition displays the works of 22 contemporary ceramists from 9 countries: Romania, USA, Canada, Israel, Italy, Ireland, UK, South Korea and Poland. The works of the Romanian artists are placed near the pieces belonging to the 15 foreign artists who, in December 2011, have exhibited at the Brush Factory in Cluj. Through this exhibition, the review Ceamics Now opens a dialogue among contemporary ceramists from all over the world, who use different techniques or working manners and approach contemporary motifs and subjects.
