What could there be more appropriate, now, when we share the expectation of the Great Feast of the Lord’s Resurrection, than the presence of these divine messengers ‒ THE ANGELS?
After “Teralumen”, where Gloria Grati has approached the theme of eye’s symbolism,
ARINA AILINCĂI opens a window towards the fascinating world of some pure, serene, beneficial beings, who accompany us throughout life.
Child porcelain faces, gifted with protective wings, watch over us from above, so that we’d not mistake, so that we’d choose the right path. They are not mere faces, but states of mind ‒ an endless possibility to ponder upon our lives.

The "Choir of Angels" exhibition is inspired by our oldest sacred texts in which the presence of these winged pure spiritual beings is thoroughly mentioned. From Angelos, in Greek divine messenger, these beings are meant to accompany, protect and guide the human being along the entire path of his existence. The approach to this theme, as put by the Romanian philosopher Andrei Pleșu, is not limited to it’s theological-metaphysical context but encompasses the entire culture of mankind, having always had a privileged place in the arts.
Starting from this heritage the artist can imagine and symbolically materialize the world beyond the barriers of human perception. As far as I am concerned, I have chosen from this entire universe of possible representations the most common formal expression compatible with the ceramic material: that of a child's head surrounded by wings. This expression should be viewed by appealing to what we metaphorically call "the eye of the heart".
