Galateea Contemporary Art Gallery invites you on Friday, February 21st, 2020, at 7 p.m., at the opening of the exhibition 2m³ of history.
The Ceramic section from The Art Enterprise called Combinatul Fondului Plastic (C.F.P.) has lost its destination, so did the Glass and Textile sections. This historical premises functioned between the years ´65-´95 as a production studio. The artists brought their works here, a series of prototypes, for multiplication in short series. The master technologists made plaster forms (molds), then the pieces were cast in faience or porcelain, decorated, burned and then commercialized through the national network of art stores called Fondul Plastic (F.P.) which belonged to The Visual Artists’ Union of Romania (U.A.P.). The F.P. was a well known brand until ´90-´95. The Glass and Textile sections worked with the same principles.
We have discovered in this space a series of molds, which we want to re-contextualize, to give a new life to the forgotten ceramic forms hidden in this ceramic studio.
2m³ history aims to tell the story of the working forms, to revive a history, which has left these forms as testimony. We will enjoy discovering and reinterpreting them before they deteriorate or disappear.
Participating artists: Cristina Russu, Ioana Şetran, Gherghina Costea, Georgiana Cozma, Lucia Lobonţ, Oana Florică, Anca Vintilă Dragu, Marius Stanciu, Iulian Vîrtopeanu
Curators: Anca Vintilă Dragu, Marius Stanciu
The exhibition is open during 18.02.2020 – 19.03.2020
Media Partners:
