"The exhibition opened by Gloria Grati at the Galateea Gallery presents to the public her recent artworks made from textured ceramic stoneware. Characteristic of the artist’s approach is the free modeling of forms and a meticulous exploration of patina, achieved either with metallic oxides or, conversely, with natural pigments. The resulting sense of materiality is striking through the telluric atmosphere of a mythic archaeological universe, suggested through imprints, incisions, and textures specific to ceramic matter. The new cycle, Solaris - which also gives the exhibition its title - brings together several series of spheroidal objects and anthropomorphic female figures. Gloria Grati’s formal universe (re)affirms a surprising supremacy of vision, yet one that ultimately unfolds through the tactile presence of the ceramic forms she models."
